This course is intended to provide NRC staff with hands-on experience running the Shift Monte Carlo code to perform depletion analysis with
nodal cross section data generation as well as criticality and shielding analysis. Calculations will be performed with the current beta release of
SCALE 6.3 through the NEAMS Workbench user interface using parallel computing on ORNL computer clusters. The course will include an
overview of SCALE's applications to NRC regulatory review, the theoretical basis for nuclear data and Monte Carlo methods, the validation basis
of the codes and data, as well as a summary of current and future advancements in SCALE. Staff will have an extended period of time to
exercise the code and interact with the developers and expert analysts from ORNL throughout the training course.
